“To get the very best out of your textile printer, you need a tailored combination of products”- Thomas, BU Manager Printing

The textile industry revolves around colours and patterns. We add them to all kind of textiles, carpets and technical articles. Textile printing is a fast way to do so and is used in many textile mills. Without it, the textile world would be plain boring, as without designs and templates.

There’s no such thing as a magical printer that knows how to print all fabric types, hence the countless textile printing methods. To make things even more complicated, conventional screen printing and digital printing methods differ in many ways. Confused? Scroll down to our fold out scheme!

No matter which technology you choose, you cannot just turn on your machines and press “print”. “To get the very best out of your textile printer, you need a tailored combination of products that prepare, protect, and improve your print results and make the colours last longer”, explains BU Manager Thomas.

This is where we come in
We turn every material upside down and study its printability, pick-up rate and reactions to different chemicals. As a result, we know how to finetune your printing process as well as which chemicals to add in which stage.

Conventional Textile Printing

Conventional -or traditional- textile printing used to be done with screen printers. Today, conventional printing is mainly done with rotary printing machines, although flat screens are in still in used. The advantage of this technology is the high production speed, which reduces printing cost and allows for long print runs. On the other hand, designs are restricted by screen size and producing the scenes takes time and is cost intensive. Each print paste contains a composition of dyes, thickeners and auxiliaries that should be prepared separately. This is the reason why conventional textile printing is often used for home textiles like curtains, bed linen, and other products that have recurring colour patterns and long printing runs.

Digital (Inkjet) Printing

Digital (inkjet) textile printing is an answer to the changing market that requires textile manufacturers to be flexible and able to personalise their products. With inkjet printing, you apply thickener and chemicals as separate process step before you start printing. Today, it’s the ideal technique for high end fashion and sportswear, where high flexibility and personalisation are much appreciated. Even carpet industry started using inkjet process.

Digital Carpet Printing (Valve Jet Technology)

The valve jet technology is a well proven technology for carpet and other high pile fabrics. The print paste is applied by nozzles instead of a screen meaning you’re not bound by screen size or a long start-up process. Neraly all kinds of designs can be printed. The paste is printed on the fabric by opening and closing the nozzles.
